Welcome to Triple Creek Farm's Home on the Web. Thank you for visiting!
My husband and I had been looking at different properties for several years and none of them ended up being close to what we really wanted. That was until we saw this land that is now called Triple Creek Farm.
In January of 2007, we made an investment in our dream. We purchased seventy acres near Henderson, TN in a community called Sweetlips. (No, I am not joking.) There is a story behind the name. It goes something like this:
Many years ago, there was a man traveling through the area. He had come through a couple of nearby towns that had terrible, sulphur-tasting water. When he got here, he stopped and asked someone for a drink of water. When he tasted it, he said "Ah, that's sweet to my lips."...and that is how Sweetlips got its name.
When we were searching for the address the very first time, we stopped and asked directions from two older gentlemen who were standing in the road talking. I don't remember what they were talking about or why they were in the road, but they said they thought the address was in "Sweetlips Bottoms". Uh oh. Our hearts sank. Bottoms? That's just another word for swamp, isn't it? Well, we decided to take a look anyway.
When we found the address, it didn't look very inviting or attractive from the road. The driveway is built up really high...and there were HUGE culverts in it... There's only one reason why you'd need culverts that big - flood water. The guy who owned the land before us had done quite a bit of dirtwork. In addition to putting in the driveway, he dug several long ditches at the front of the property by the road in order to divert water. Hmmm. BUT the driveway went up, so that was promising.
We decided that we'd walk to the top of the first hill and see if it was something we might be interested in. What we saw was very close to the picture that is in the header of this webpage - minus the hay bales. It was a huge field bordered by woods. It also had a hill that would make the perfect place for a house. The land is surrounded by water. We are bordered on the West by Sweetlips Creek, on the North by Sand Creek and another creek that comes across the property on the East. So, this is why we named our place Triple Creek Farm.
We have two fenced in pastures that are the home of 11 cows and I don't know how many pigs... We also have 13 laying hens. Currently, we are selling farm fresh eggs and in the near future, we hope to expand into retail meat sales.
Thank you so much for visiting our website.
We will be adding more information soon. Check back often for updates.

Such a cute face...but what an attitude!
I was taking pictures and she decided she wanted a close-up. I LOVE this picture.
<---- This is the heifer that kicked me. Yes. You read that right. I got kicked by a cow. I was ready to get out of the pen, but she wasn't ready to move out of the way, so I got a kick to the knee. Brat.
I still think she's cute, though...even though she has an attitude problem. ;)
